Here is a step-by-step guide to installing and settings up VyOS.
Step 1: Download the VyOS ISO
Go to the VyOS download page to get the latest version of the VyOS ISO image. Make sure you choose the appropriate version for your hardware and download the ISO image. The minimum system requirements are 1024 MiB RAM and 2 GiB storage.
Step 2: Create a bootable USB drive
You can use tools like Rufus, Etcher , and other tools to create a bootable USB drive. Insert the bootable media into the computer or server where you want to install VYOS.
Step 3: Boot the computer from the bootable USB drive
You'll need to restart the computer and boot from the bootable media you created in the previous step. This will start the VyOS installation process.
Step 4: Install VyOS
Please follow the prompts to install VyOS. The installation process will guide through partitioning the hard drive, setting up the network interfaces, and configuring the root password.
Step 5: Configure VyOS
Once the installation is complete, you can log in to the VyOScommand line interface (CLI) using the root account and the password you set during the installation. You can configure the network interfaces, set up firewall rules, and configure any other features by using the "Configure" command.
Step 6: Save the configuration
Make sure you save the configuration by using the "Commit" command. This will ensure that the changes you made are saved.
Step 7: Test your configuration
To verify that your configuration works as intended by testing your network connectivity and any other features you have configured. If everything is working, you can give yourself a pat on the back! If needed, you can check our VyOS documentation.
